How to Remove a Swanstone Shower Pan

Removing a Swanstone shower pan is much the same as removing any shower pan, but it may actually be a bit easier to remove than some other shower pans. A Swanstone pan does not usually have any additional brackets or clips to connect it to the shower stall wall studs. Removing a Swanstone shower pan mainly just requires you to dislodge it from the dried mortar or thinset into which it has been set.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the tip of a flat-head screwdriver under the edge of the drain cover. Pop the cover off.

    • 2

Cut through the rubber flange around the drain with a utility knife. Remove as many pieces as you can cut from the top around the drain. This loosens the pan from the drain and prevents the rubber from making it more difficult to lift the pan up.

    • 3

Position a utility knife blade on one end at the bottom of the shower pan where it meets the floor. Pull the knife along the caulking to cut through it.

    • 4

Place the tip of a flat pry bar under the front of the pan. Lift up the pan so that it dislodges from the floor. Work along the front of the pan to release it from the floor. Work backward with the bar until the pan is separated from the floor.

    • 5

Lift the pan out of the shower stall area.
