Measure the length and width of the storage space beneath the stairs.
Place a drop cloth on the floor. Place the cardboard on the drop cloth.
Cut out the dimensions of the storage space beneath the stairs on the cardboard using the utility knife and straight edge. Discard of the excess cardboard properly.
Smooth the edges of the cardboard with the fine sandpaper.
Paint the cardboard. Let the paint dry for a day. Repeat the painting procedure.
Turn the cardboard over. Remove the lid from the storage unit. Line up the bottom of the storage unit with the bottom end of the cardboard. Turn the storage unit on its side on the cardboard. Draw an outline around the storage unit on the cardboard.
Apply bonding glue to the top and left and right edges of the storage unit. Place strips of Velcro pads on the top and left and right sides of the storage unit. Let the bonding glue set for a day.
Apply bonding glue to the outline on the cardboard. Place strips of Velcro hooks on the outline. Let the bonding glue set for a day.
Put valuables that you want to hide in the storage unit. Place the storage unit inside of the space beneath the stairs with the Velcro pads facing out.
Attach the Velcro hooks on the false wall you've built out of cardboard to the Velcro pads on the side of the storage until. Line up the hidden wall with the sides of the space beneath the stairs to hide the storage unit from prying eyes.
