How to Design Your Own Floor Plans for a Beauty Store

When opening up a beauty store or salon, one of the most important aspects of design is the floor plan. How you design the floor plan allows clients to feel comfortable and relaxed when they visit your establishment, as well as allows the stylist to move freely when going between shampoo stations, cutting areas, manicure areas, and waxing rooms. While you are in the designing phase of your beauty store, think about the layout you want and develop the floor plan around it.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a basic floor plan on a piece of graph paper. Include architectural features on the graph paper in order to include them in floor plan designs. Measure the lengths and widths of walls and write down measurements when determining the area of the store.

    • 2

Determine where you want certain aspects of the store to be. For example, section off a space in the front of the salon to be a waiting area for clients.

    • 3

Place the reception desk near the front of the store in order to efficiently assist clients and provide a welcome to incoming guests. A retail area right behind the reception desk saves space and keeps it noticeable to clients.

    • 4

Design the layout to feature manicure or pedicure stations towards the back of the store, along with shampoo stations against a wall. This will help you keep your services separated and cohesive in any size space.

Finish off the floor plan by determining where a staff lounge and storage area will go. Each of these should be located in the back corners of the store to keep them out of the way of clients.
