    • Inspecting and maintaining exterior telecommunication equipment at plant locations is the primary job duty. Preparing assessment reports for management is part of the job. The inspector has to test and inspect fiber-optic cables and replace or repair damaged sections.

    Skill Requirements

    • Knowledge of fiber-optics technology and testing is necessary. Agility in using hand and power tools is a required skill. System installation and replacement abilities are needed. Familiarity with industry standards is helpful.

    Preferred Background

    • A degree in engineering or telecommunications engineering is normally required. Five years experience in telecommunication systems or plant inspection is desirable. Quality assurance background is a plus.
