How to Make a Model Solar House

Solar power is becoming more popular as people search for sources of renewable energy. A great way to illustrate the benefits of solar energy is to create a model solar house. Battery pack
Portable solar panel

Instructions

  Secure the portable solar panel to the roof of the dog house using Velcro tape. Position the dog house so as much sunlight as possible hits the roof throughout the day.

  Place the battery pack and radio inside the dog house, and run the charging wire out the doghouse door to the solar panel on the roof. Plug in the radio, but do not turn it on.

  Allow sufficient time for the solar panel to charge the battery pack.

  Check the battery pack's charge level periodically until it is full. At this point, it is time for a test.

  Turn on the power to the radio and see how long the battery's charge, along with the continued power from sunlight, will allow the radio to run. This is a great illustration of how sunlight can provide electricity in a home.
