Instructions

    • 1

Measure the wall where the crown moulding is going to be installed. Measure all the way from the end of the wall to the inside corner where the existing crown moulding is installed. Transfer the measurements to the crown moulding.

    • 2

Set the crown moulding in place on the miter saw. The top of the crown moulding should butt against the table of the saw and the bottom of the crown moulding should butt against the fence of the saw. Straight cut the moulding on a miter saw.

    • 3

Find and mark the profile for the moulding on the beveled end of the crown moulding. Because the moulding is matching up to a moulding with a different profile you cannot find and cut away the profile on the moulding like you would normally do. Instead, hold a piece of paper up next to the existing moulding. Use a pencil to help you mark the profile of the moulding on the paper. Transfer the profile to the end of the crown moulding with a pencil as a guideline.

    • 4

Hold the coping saw at a 5 degree angle away from the face of the moulding. Cut along the marked profile line. This will cut away the back portion of the moulding.

    • 5

Test fit the coped piece of moulding. If the moulding does not fit into the profile of the other moulding, cope out a bit more of the moulding until it does fit.
