Determine how high you want the beadboard molding to go on the wall. Most beadboard wainscoting is 32 to 36 inches high, but some homeowners choose to have the beadboard go higher up the wall. Measure up from the floor with a measuring tape and create a level line at this height on the wall using a long level.
Remove the existing molding from the wall. Work carefully so you do not damage the molding. Use a pry bar and hammer to gently pull the molding from the wall. Set the molding aside for later reinstallation.
Place the beadboard paneling in the room approximately 48 hours before installation. This will give the beadboard time to acclimatize to the room.
Set the beadboard paneling on two sawhorses. Stain or paint the beadboard as desired.
Measure the space where the beadboard paneling is going to be installed. When measuring and installing, start at one corner and work around the room. Transfer the measurements to the beadboard panel with a pencil. Cut the beadboard to size with a circular saw. Cut out outlets and other small holes in the beadboard with a jigsaw.
Apply paneling adhesive on the back of the beadboard paneling in a zig-zag type motion. Press the beadboard in place on the wall. Nail in place with a pneumatic nail gun.
Reinstall the molding on top of the beadboard paneling. Nail the molding in place with a pneumatic nail gun.
